Dr. Abou-Setta is an Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Sciences (University of Manitoba), the Director of Knowledge Synthesis, George & Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation (University of Manitoba), the CIHR-funded Manitoba SPOR SUPPORT Unit, and a Principal Investigator on the CIHR-funded SPOR Evidence Alliance. He leads and supports patient-oriented research including clinical practice guidelines, systematic reviews, and overviews of reviews. His work has been featured in prominent journals as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the British Medical Journal (BMJ), the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), Annals of Internal Medicine, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and World Health Organization (WHO) publications. In addition, Dr. Abou-Setta is leading innovative research into methods for improving and streamlining the systematic review process, detecting research bias, supporting decision-making, and fostering and empowering patient engagement throughout the research process. Last, but not least, Dr. Abou-Setta is regularly involved in training of students and clinical professionals through an array of one-on-one consultations, group teaching, and collaborative research.
