Methods Manual

This methods manual documents the methods and processes used by the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care in development of its recommendations.

It was developed in collaboration with Task Force members, the Science Team from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Evidence Review and Synthesis Centres (ERSCs), Knowledge Translation (KT) Team and Communications Team.

This manual is primarily intended to be used by the Task Force and its core partners as a guide for development of Task Force recommendations, and by the Science Team to ensure methodological rigour as they support the Task Force throughout the guideline process. It does not include administrative procedures (e.g., recording and approval of meeting minutes). This manual may also be useful to other organizations and individuals who want to learn more about the Task Force’s methods for developing evidence-based guidelines.

Sections of this manual will be updated regularly as methods continue to evolve. When material in any chapter is updated, a new version of that chapter will be posted on the Task Force website with the date of the update. Prior versions of the methods manual will also be available on the website.
