Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Task Force held its October 2021 meeting online via videoconference. Dr. Grad opened the meeting, and the Task Force members approved the agenda. Dr. Grad welcomed new staff of the Task Force including Anne Brasset-Latulippe (PHAC), Ryan DeSilva (PHAC) and Nilram Jalilian (KT). Dr. Grad also announced upcoming departures from the Task Force, including Tina Koronwyk (Task Force member) and Amy Tatemichi (TFO) and announced that the next meeting will be also virtual in February 2022 on the seventh and eighth.
Dr. Wilson spoke about timelines for Task Force work and provided an update on a suggestion to balance out work group membership, given the changes that have been experienced in the last six months.
Ms. Barnhardt and Ms. Curé presented an update on the recent work of the Communications team and their ongoing initiatives.
Ms. Wu presented an update on the Working Group’s work to-date, including current thinking around developing a framework as opposed to a guideline, as well as next steps.
Ms. Beckett, Ms. Narcisse-Merveille, Mr. Silveira and Mr. Flaherty from the Knowledge Translation (KT) team provided updates on recent KT activities and initiatives. This update included information on recently published guidelines, new and upcoming KT tools, dissemination activities and Task Force projects involving KT and the Task Force Public Advisors Network (TF-PAN) initiative
Dr. Ivan Florez provided an update on the TF Guideline Comparison project, provides a Task Force guideline quality assessment & comparison with other guidelines with similar scope.
Dr. Klarenbach provided a lung cancer guideline screening update, including a request for TF approval of KQ 1 its PICO and KQ2 and its PICO.
Dr. Thériault and Ms. Limburg presented an update on the Working Group’s work to-date, including a project update as well as next steps.
Dr. Persaud, Ms. Bennett and Mr. Traversy provided an overview of results from the projects being undertaken by the equity working group.
Ms. Pillay provided a progress update on the Falls Prevention Interventions guideline.
Mr. Beck and Mr. Traversy provided a project update and next steps for the Smoking Cessation for Adults Guideline
Ms. Tessier provided an update on the PIP protocol, discussed feedback raised during the latest round of TF approval of the protocol and requested TF approval of decisions based on this feedback.
The guideline working group chairs provided brief updates for each guideline.
