MINUTES

Day 1

1. Welcome and Introductions

The Task Force held its June 2023 meeting in-person and virtually. Dr. Thériault opened the meeting and Task Force members approved the agenda. Brief guidelines on the proceedings of the meeting were provided. Roundtable introductions were done, and Dr. Thériault welcomed the new staff of the Task Force.

2. Communications Update

Ms. Barnhardt presented an update on the recent work of the Communications team and their ongoing initiatives.

3. Knowledge Translation (KT) Update

Ms. Beckett and Ms. Cooper from the Knowledge Translation (KT) team provided updates on recent KT activities and initiatives. This update included information on recently published and upcoming guidelines, new and upcoming KT tools, dissemination activities, the Clinical Prevention Leaders (CPL) Network, the Task Force Public Advisors Network (TF-PAN) initiative, and the 2022 Annual Evaluation.

4. Breast Cancer Update

Mr. Traversy presented the new United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) draft recommendations and sought a decision on proposed way forward for the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Healthcare (CTFPHC)’s breast cancer guideline update.

5. Lung Cancer

Ms. Pillay presented the analysis plan for key question one (KQ1).

6. Methods

Ms. Subnath presented an update on ongoing methods items and processes for updating the manual. She also provided an update on the equity work.

7. Colorectal Cancer

Ms. Subnath presented the background information related to this topic.

8. Hepatitis C

Dr. Grad presented the key questions (KQs) and the PICOTs for feedback.

9. Vitamin D and Calcium

Dr. Klarenbach presented the revised key questions (KQs) and the draft PICOTs for feedback.

10. Verbal Update on Guidelines

The guideline working group chairs provided a brief update on each guideline.

11. Falls

Ms. Pillay and Ms. Gaudet presented the results of the systematic review.

12. Topics

Dr. Reynolds presented the next steps for confirmation methods, confirmation of cognitive impairment, as well as the topic selection process for 2024.

13. Next Steps and Adjournment

Drs Abou-Setta and Thériault thanked everyone for attending. The June 2023 Task Force meeting was adjourned.
