MINUTES

Day 1

1. Welcome and Introductions

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Task Force held its June 2021 meeting online via videoconference. Dr. Moore opened the meeting, and the Task Force members approved the agenda. Dr. Moore welcomed new members of the Task Force team including Amy Tatemichi (TFO office), Casey Gray (PHAC), Chantelle Garritty (PHAC) and Sarah Deshpande (KT). Dr. Moore also announced departures from the Task Force, including Elspeth Payne (PHAC), Elizabeth Rolland-Harris (PHAC), Marc Avey (PHAC), Allana LeBlanc (PHAC) and Kristen Simkus (PHAC), and current Task Force Chair Dr. Brett Thombs. Dr Moore thanked Dr. Thombs for his work as Chair, highlighting notable activities and milestones such as enhancing patient engagement, introducing TF-PAN, advancing the Task Force communications approach, deepening partnerships nationally and internationally, achieving top endorsements for breast and colorectal cancers, and prioritizing equity.  

 

2. Communications Update

Ms. Barnhardt and Ms. Curé presented an update on the recent work of the Communications team and their ongoing initiatives.

 

3. KT Update

Ms. Beckett, Ms. Narcisse-Merveille, Mr. Silveira and Mr. Flaherty from the Knowledge Translation (KT) team provided updates on recent KT activities and initiatives. This update included information on recently published guidelines, new and upcoming KT tools, dissemination activities and Task Force projects involving KT and the Task Force Public Advisors Network (TF-PAN) initiative

 

4. CVD Framework

Ms. Wu presented an update on the Working Group’s work to-date, including current thinking around developing a framework as opposed to a guideline, as well as next steps.

 

5. Topics

Dr. Moore presented an update on the Working Group’s work to-date, including reaffirmation rationale and methodologies, as well as next steps.

 

6. Cervical Cancer Uupdate

Dr. Reynolds and Ms. Gates provided an update on the working group’s work to-date, including progress on the current guideline and an update on key questions.

 

7. Tobacco Cessation

Mr. Beck and Mr. Traversy presented an update on the systematic review and the Working Group’s work to-date, including a project update as well as next steps.

 

8. Verbal Update on Guidelines

The guideline Working Group Chairs provided brief updates for each guideline.

 

9. Task Force Procedures

Dr. Thombs presented a review on Task Force procedures and mandate.

10. Next Steps and Adjournment

Dr. Moore thanked everyone for attending. The June 2021 Task Force virtual meeting was adjourned.
